Those prices are only half the comparison. Either printing route also costs you a printer, filament, sanding and paint, and a chunk of your weekend, while buying finished costs you shipping and any say over how the paint turns out.
The honest gap between the extremes is about 140 euros and a weekend of finishing work. If you already own a printer and enjoy the finishing, printing wins on cost every time. If you do not own a printer, the free files are not free, because a printer costs more than the finished prop does.

Their listing describes the set as split into big and small parts with a separate body for the short AK, delivered as an instant download. So if you want the file behind a commercial prop rather than a community upload, this is that file. Confirmed live and in stock at 14.99 euros on August 17, 2026.
Buy it finished
Thirty-three finished AK props in our catalog were in stock on August 17, 2026. Almost all of them come from LootRoom, whose own site states that "lootroom GmbH is officially affiliated, endorsed, and licensed by Facepunch Studios" and whose AK product specs list it as licensed by Facepunch and made in Germany. We are a fan-run catalog and we are not in a position to verify a licence ourselves, so we are quoting the seller and letting their wording speak for itself.
Rust Default Skin Mini AK, 80 euros
The cheapest finished AK prop in stock, and a sensible first one. It is a scaled-down default AK at a bit over half the price of the lifesize, and unlike the big one it will sit on an ordinary shelf without taking the whole shelf. Confirmed in stock at 80 euros.
Rust AK DIY, unpainted light grey, 109 euros
The middle path, and the one most people overlook. You get the built prop in bare light grey and paint it yourself, which costs 31 euros less than the finished lifesize and leaves the finish under your control. If you like the making but not the printing, this is the option that fits. Verified in stock at 109 euros. There is also a short-barrel version of the same idea at 100 euros, which is the cheapest full-size AK body in the catalog.

Rust AK Prop, lifesize, 140 euros
The one most people actually want. LootRoom describes it as a 1:1 lifesize replica in PLA, 75cm end to end, hand-painted in their Bavarian workshop, in the vanilla default skin with no decoration. The default skin is the right call for a display piece: it is the silhouette every Rust player recognises without needing to know which streamer a skin belongs to. Verified in stock at 140 euros.

Skins, 239 to 410 euros
Above the default AK sits a long row of hand-painted skin versions: Blue Gem, Alien Red, Retrowave, Tempered, Santa Muerte and more. In stock on August 17, 2026 they ran from 239 euros for the xQc skin up to 410 euros for Santa Muerte, with the largest cluster sitting at 249 euros. They are the same prop with a much harder paint job. Worth it if a specific skin means something to you, and not worth nearly double the default if it does not. Two listings went out of stock while we were writing this
When we re-checked every AK in our catalog on August 17, 2026, two of the cheaper finished pieces had gone unavailable: a 75 dollar life-size AK from DirtMerch, and a 49.99 dollar Rust AK LED sign from CreatorCrafted that their listing now marks as a final sale. We updated both to sold out in the catalog the same day rather than leave them sitting there looking purchasable.
We are mentioning it because it is the useful part. Under about 100 dollars, the finished-prop supply for this game is genuinely thin, and the listings that do appear there tend not to come back once they sell through. If you are waiting for a cheap finished AK to still be available next month, that is the bet you are making.
What we would actually do
If you own a 3D printer, print the MakerWorld Rust Assault Rifle (AK47) and spend the five dollars on the Gambody file only if the free one fights you. Print the wall mount at the same time.
If you do not own a printer, buy the 80 euro mini AK first. It is the lowest-risk way to find out whether a game prop on your shelf is a thing you enjoy, and if it is, the 140 euro lifesize is the obvious second purchase. Skip the 239 euro and up skins until you already own a default AK to compare them against.
Either way, the AK is the right prop to start with.
