Season 1: Kord Breach is live. It launched on August 3, 2026 with patch 1.1.0.0. There is still no wipe: traditional wipes ended with the 1.0 release (Nov 15, 2025), and Seasons are opt-in. Start a fresh seasonal character on the season's own PvP servers, or skip it entirely and your PMC, stash, hideout and Kappa stay exactly as they are.
Time elapsed since Season 1 went live. Opt-in seasonal character with fresh-economy modifiers, minimum 74 days. Battlestate gave the date but not a time of day, and servers came back through the day after a six to eight hour install, so this clock anchors at 00:00 UTC on August 3. No end date has been announced.
Is there still a Tarkov wipe?
Not in the old sense. For eight years, Escape from Tarkov reset every player's stash, PMC level, traders, and hideout roughly twice a year. That era ended when 1.0 launched on November 15, 2025: the release wipe was the final one, and Battlestate Games made main-profile progress permanent in both PvP and PvE.
The fresh-start experience wipes used to provide now lives in Seasons: opt-in events where you create a separate seasonal character in a fresh economy with special modifiers, while your main PMC stays untouched. When a season ends, seasonal progress folds back into your account rather than being deleted.
Does a season wipe my main character?
No. This is the single biggest change from the wipe era. A season gives you a separate opt-in character; your main PMC, stash, hideout, and trader progress are never reset. If you skip a season entirely, nothing happens to your account.
What is Kord Breach?
Kord Breach is Season 1, which arrived with patch 1.1.0.0 on August 3, 2026. It's the first real test of the seasonal system: a fresh seasonal economy with its own gameplay modifiers, running for a minimum of 74 days per Battlestate's published material. The "Blackout" pre-season event bridged the gap before it started.
When did Season 1 start?
Season 1 went live on August 3, 2026. Studio head Nikita Buyanov had posted the date on July 27, 2026, apologizing for "a slight delay" after the season was expected in late July, and it held. Servers went down that morning for a six to eight hour install and the season opened later the same day, so no single clock time is exactly right. No end date has been announced. The patch notes describe seasonal characters resetting on a four to six month rhythm alongside major content updates, which is a pattern rather than a scheduled date. Will there be more seasons?
Battlestate has signaled roughly two seasons per year, which would put Season 2 in a late-2026 window. Treat that as a roadmap estimate, not a commitment - nothing beyond Kord Breach has been locked in.
