Figures that actually transform

  • Talmage Madsen's Optimus prints in one piece with no supports and no assembly, stands over five inches and has a trailer in truck mode. The same designer has a two-piece Megatron that turns into a tank, plus Bumblebee, Ratchet, a Decepticon tank and an Autobot Mystery Machine, all single prints and all CC BY.
  • plasticbruv's MP10 is an articulated, color-separated Masterpiece-style Optimus that transforms, remixed from Petergross3's model.
  • Mi Réplica 3D's Optimus calibration cube is a fully articulated print-in-place figure with no supports (CC0), Dr Operator's Lucky 13 skin folds into the truck, and actualSIZE's Ravage microcassette turns into a panther and fits inside a G1 Soundwave.

Articulated G1 figures

Toymakr3d's G1 line is fully articulated but not transformable: Optimus Prime is 20 cm at 1:30 and prints with no supports, and Jazz is 14 cm with 11 points of articulation; Bumblebee is in the top ten too. ChelsCCT's big 80s Optimus was printed in multi-material so it came out in color (CC BY), Max Sterling's Ravage has lockable legs held by 8 small magnets, and 3dworkbench's mini Optimus prints best in resin. Paint figures with the Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic starter set.

Cosplay: helmets and the Matrix

  • MrFlippant's cosplay helmets and masks are remixed with permission from ToyMakr3D and Printformers; the faces print separately so you put them in after the helmet is on.
  • zuperbuuworks' Orion Pax helmet from Transformers ONE is sized for a small person, so scale it up if you need to, and Jace1969's Optimus helmet is popular, though the designer isn't sure it's wearable.
  • Spradlinb's Matrix of Leadership splits in half with room for electronics and a toggle switch, and zuperbuuworks' Transformers ONE Matrix works as a prop or, with a USB cable or LED strip, a lamp.

Fill layer lines on helmets with filler and sandable primer, and add a helmet padding kit for fit.

Gifts

MrFlippant's can coozies slip over a standard 12 oz can and need no supports, and the same designer's Optimus bobblehead is CC BY. nerdyviews' keychains are CC BY, Hank's Autobot beads print with no supports, Bradley Corl's CC0 logos work as car decals, and milos' Arduino Christmas ornament transforms into a spy robot that lowers from the tree. The Transformers print library lists all 393 files.
