Rust's Power Trip update and the August force wipe went live on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 2 PM Eastern, which is 7 PM in the UK and 18:00 UTC. Rustafied put that time in writing the morning of the wipe. The update turns the island's electricity into something players switch on and maintain themselves, which means a lot of the good loot now sits behind a working power grid instead of a locked crate.
The short version. Power Trip makes Rust's monuments player maintained. You carry a Heavy Fuse to a fusebox, and that fuse brings a monument to life: better recyclers, working dispensers, a car lift, airdrop control. The Power Plant is now restorable and acts as the hub of an island-wide grid that reaches eight locations. A new Satellite Crash event lets one player aim a falling satellite anywhere on the map while everyone else watches it come down. The next PC force wipe is Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the same 7 PM UK time.
What a Heavy Fuse actually does
The old electricity system was something you built inside your own base. Power Trip moves it outdoors. Facepunch's devblog describes new Heavy Fuses that plug into special fuseboxes to power up the island-wide power grid, and the practical effect is that a monument you walk into cold is a worse monument than one somebody has already switched on.
Rustafied's breakdown of the patch counts eight places the grid reaches: Launch Site, Dome, Oil Rig, Airfield, Water Treatment, Oxum's Gas Station, Supermarket, and the roadside poles in between. Those roadside poles now carry up to 30 total power spread across six connections, and per the devblog the poles with transformers on them are climbable, so the power network doubles as a way to get up and around.
The recycler change is the one that will decide how people play the first week. Rustafied has standard green recyclers dropping to 50 percent efficiency, restored to 60 percent when the monument has power, with the cycle time falling from 5 seconds to 4.5 at maximum power. The red recycler inside a restored Power Plant returns 75 percent of materials on a 4 second cycle. If those numbers hold, Power Plant stops being a place you loot and becomes a place groups fight to keep running.
The Satellite Crash event
Per the devblog, a player at Launch Site can control a satellite and choose where it comes down, and the crash is visible to the whole server. It is a raid siren you fire yourself, which is either the best or the worst thing in the patch depending on how many people you play with.
Rustafied's timings: the satellite takes roughly 10 minutes to descend, the satellite crate needs 5 minutes to cool before it opens, salvaging the main wreckage takes 8 minutes, and the system needs 12 to 16 in-game hours to recalibrate before anyone can aim it again. Thruster modules from the wreck recycle into up to 12 Explosives. Every one of those numbers is a window where you are standing still in the open, which is the point.
The smaller monument systems
- Dome pumping: switches on Oil Rig start crude oil pumping to Dome for 20 minutes, per the devblog. Two monuments, one job, and both of them contested.
- Water Treatment: gearboxes pressurize the system, which activates water dispensers in other places across the map.
- Supermarket: a power dependent freezer that hands out chilled food.
- Oxum's Gas Station: the garage is powered now and the car lift works.
- Airfield: two terminals in the tower control airdrop rates and call in Chinook resupply.
Also in the patch, per the devblog: Demo UI 2.0, a much deeper set of cinematography tools with keyframe animation and a sandbox mode, plus two pieces of paid content in the Bar Games Pack (pool table, darts, jukebox) and a Stone Sculpture deployable you can carve yourself.
Three balance changes worth knowing before you build
From Rustafied's patch coverage. High external wall upkeep is now a static 20 percent. The Auto Turret went from 10 High Quality Metal to 25. Catapult reload went from 3 seconds to 6. The turret cost is the one that changes early wipe base design: a full turret setup is now meaningfully further away on the first night.
One number from our own catalog
We keep a curated library of Rust print files and real Rust props, and we recount it on a schedule rather than writing a number once and forgetting it. Counted today, August 6, 2026: 420 live Rust print files and 251 Rust physical props.
The funny part, given what just shipped: of those 420 print files, exactly 12 are electrical parts. Six batteries, two recyclers, two electric furnaces, a solar panel and a windmill. Zero of them are a fuse or a fusebox. The single item this whole update is built around has no printable model in our library, and we went and looked before saying so. If you make STLs and you want a wipe-week idea, that is a gap with a month of free attention pointed at it.
On the monument side, searching all 420 files for the nine locations this grid touches turns up five: Oil Rig, the Airfield hangar, Dome, Supermarket and Oxum's Gas Mart. Power Plant, Launch Site, Water Treatment and the Satellite Dish have no model in the library. You can browse what does exist in the Rust print library, and the buyable props are on the Rust props page.
When is the next force wipe?
Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 7 PM UK time. PC force wipes land on the first Thursday of every month, and the time is anchored to UK time rather than to UTC, which is why the UTC number shifts by an hour when British Summer Time ends in late October. Our live Rust wipe countdown converts it to whatever timezone you are actually in, and it tracks the Console schedule separately, because Console does not follow the PC calendar.
What survives the wipe
Nothing you built in game. That is the deal with Rust, and it is why we started making display kits in the first place. Our three DIY build kits are the Minicopter, the Hackable Crate and the Shotgun Trap, printed and packed by us. They are the only Rust items you own that a force wipe cannot touch.
Common questions
When is the next Rust force wipe?
Thursday, September 3, 2026. PC force wipes are always the first Thursday of the month, so the date is predictable a year out.
What time does Rust force wipe?
7 PM UK time, which is 2 PM Eastern and 11 AM Pacific. In UTC that is 18:00 during British Summer Time and 19:00 once the UK falls back in late October. Facepunch is based in the UK, so UK time is the anchor and everything else moves around it.
What time is force wipe in the UK?
7 PM. Rustafied listed the August 6 wipe as 7pm BST, and that lines up with the wipe times our countdown has been running against.
Do blueprints wipe in the Rust Power Trip update?
The Power Trip devblog does not announce a blueprint wipe, so treat this as a map and progress wipe unless Facepunch says otherwise. Blueprint wipes are announced separately.
What is a Heavy Fuse in Rust?
A Heavy Fuse is the new item Power Trip is built around. You plug it into a special fusebox at a monument to switch on part of the island-wide power grid, which is what unlocks the better recyclers, the dispensers and the rest of the monument machinery.
When is the next Rust console wipe?
Console runs its own calendar. It wipes weekly on Thursdays, with the monthly map wipe landing on the last Thursday of the month rather than the first. Blueprints are a separate matter: Double Eleven have said they avoid wiping them where possible, so Console has no fixed blueprint wipe schedule. Our Rust Console wipe tracker carries the next six Console dates next to the PC ones.
Is the Power Plant worth going to now?
If somebody has it running, yes. Rustafied puts the restored red recycler at 75 percent material return on a 4 second cycle against 50 to 60 percent for a standard green one, which makes a working Power Plant the best place on the island to turn junk into components.
